Outreach and Online Education HR team wins Mission Award
Becky Barton, Megan Warefield, Scott Wong, and Tammy Hahn, all recent members of Penn State Outreach and Online Education’s HR Operations team, were honored with the organization’s Mission Award during a recent ceremony at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center.
The award annually recognizes an individual or team in Penn State Outreach and Online Education who supports the organizational mission to engage, empower, and inspire global learners.
“The HR team has worked tirelessly, every day, to support those who both directly and indirectly work to accomplish the mission of Penn State Outreach and Online Education,” said Karen Pollack, assistant vice provost for online and blended programs.
The Penn State Outreach and Online Education HR Operations team formed three years ago in an effort to streamline the day-to-day operational support activities to employees, allowing the HR strategic partner the opportunity to focus on and lead strategic initiatives for the unit.
“I am proud of our team and the strong partnerships we have made across the organization,” said Erika Shoffner, HR strategic partner for Outreach and Online Education. “Their ambitious attitudes and willingness to lend a hand is always present.”
During this time, the team onboarded more than 250 new employees, reviewed more than 200 jobs, and assisted with countless forms necessary for HR support.
“Our team has worked hard to provide top-notch service to all our employees,” said Barton, now a recruiting and sourcing specialist for Penn State Human Resources. “As the University undergoes an HR transformation, one thing that will always remain is our commitment to excellent service for employees.”
