Elmore to Serve as Director of Procurement
Duane Elmore will be the new director of Penn State Procurement Services as of July 19.
Most recently, Elmore served as assistant vice president for Procurement Services at the University of Illinois. In that position, he provided university-wide leadership for purchasing, strategic sourcing, accounts payable, and travel activities supporting more than 80,000 students.
Working with accounting, budget, treasury, capital, and audit functions, Elmore helped establish a consistent vision, mission, and strategy for procurement and financial operations at the University of Illinois. His direct units oversaw the expenditure of $1.5 billion annually.
Previously, Elmore served with the United States Air Force for 22 years, earning recognition for leading large acquisition and contracting teams to plan, negotiate, and implement programs for worldwide projects. He led cross-functional teams in engineering and facilities, human resources, public safety, accounting and finance, and housing and dining services.
Elmore looks forward to joining the Penn State team. “It’s a tremendous honor to be selected as the next director of Procurement Services, and I’m excited to be joining a team that understands the impact procurement has on the mission of the University,” he says. “I’m looking forward to applying my experiences to Penn State’s continued commitment to maximize value to students.”
